Sasha Josipovicz, Studio Pyramid’s acclaimed interior designer, has captured the essence of traveling in style and with a sense of connectedness to every destination in his conceptual ultimate hotel room. The 12 foot structure clad in RIMOWA’s iconic stainless steel suitcases evokes a airplane wing, suggesting an elegant yet serious message about the way modern travel should be. The 400 sq ft modern “hotel room” is grounded with chic bohemian luxury flooring from Gusco’s Manhattan collection to soothe the most discerning traveler.
- Contemporary high-end furnishings from Italy’s Flou define the space, enveloping the guest with a cocoon-like upholstered queen size bed, modern glass and marble end tables, generous work surface, accented with a white leather chair. The stainless steel wardrobe is the ultimate in functionality and modern clean aesthetics.
- FontanaArte’s glowing white frosted globe lighting sets the mood and is a nod to the global reach of today’s traveler.
- Gusco’s own unique Manhattan Collection of long board, wide plank premium engineered hardwood flooring in its signature Hampton color reminiscent of an iced driftwood, creates an aged look.
- The iconic silver ridged suitcases from Rimowa complete the expectations of today’s modern traveler: performance, comfort and a sense of style.
“This room aligns an artistic aesthetic with modern functionality,” says Josipovicz who selected Gusco flooring as the bohemian influence similar to what is found in the Parisian Marais or New York’s Tribeca and SoHo, like Robert di Nero’s Greenwich Hotel. It is the contrast to the sleek modern furniture and lighting, and the grounding effect gives the room character, and the feeling of being a guest at someone’s house.
The Art of Travel is all about finding beauty in every part of your trip. The special IDS12 exhibit opens today and continues Friday January 27 for the trade, and January 28th – 29th to the public at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre.
